We, the Elders of Trinity Church, stand united in denouncing the sins of racism and racial injustice. As believers, we are called to love our neighbors as ourselves; therefore, racism and prejudice should have no place in our lives as we seek to live in obedience to this command of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We renew our commitment to be attentive to the Spirit, praying for wisdom and discernment regarding positive steps of action to demonstrate Christ’s love, and to walk and work alongside our black and brown brothers and sisters to eliminate racial injustice.
We renew our commitment to authentic relationships, particularly with our brothers and sisters of color, seeking to better understand the injustices they still encounter.
We renew our commitment to be active in our communities, working for truth and justice, treating others with dignity and respect, and extending Christ’s love to others in word and deed.
We renew our commitment to apprenticeship, seeking to challenge one another and holding each other accountable to work toward the dissolution of racial inequities in our communities, state, and nation.
We, the Elders of Trinity Church, recognize and acknowledge that all people are created in God’s image and should be valued and treated with dignity and respect. We acknowledge there are numerous other societal evils that can and should be addressed; however, in light of current events, we believe it is important to clearly renounce, and even repent of, the sins of partiality, prejudice, and racism in our own hearts, in the heart of our church, and in the heart of our nation.
We also remain committed to seeing people experience spiritual transformation through a divine encounter with Jesus Christ, recognizing only he can change hearts and effect real change in this and all other areas of life.
As your Elders, we invite and encourage you, Trinity Church, to stand with us. Thank you!
We exist to glorify God and make disciples by
awakening people to full life with Christ.
