Trinity Church individuals and families shopped for hats, underwear, gloves and socks to provide H.U.G.S. for 233 students from Gardner International Magnet School. Additional hats, gloves, and socks were donated to keep in the school office for emergencies. Ten staff and volunteers helped pass out H.U.G.S. on delivery day! We are grateful to all of the individuals that participated to make these practical and needed gifts available to Gardner students and families. Ashley Post, along with Elika Fisher and her kids, Elise, Alek, and Kaylin, were part of the Trinity Church team delivering H.U.G.S. kits to classrooms (above).

H.U.G.S. Sign Up at Gardner Parent Teacher Conferences

Trinity Church volunteers, Anne and Mark Cody and Steve and Karen Wilcox, set up a display of various sizes of underwear and socks to help families with sizing as they filled out the H.U.G.S. request form.

H.U.G.S. Delivery Day – December 19, 2023

Local Outreach experiences like this take many hands and hearts to make them happen. Volunteers are needed for various tasks from sign up to delivery day. Volunteers handle sign up of students at Parent-Teacher Conferences, organization of the completed sign-up forms, data entry and making copies of completed forms, all before Trinity attenders have an opportunity to select students for donations. Once the prep work is complete, volunteer hosts were available in the Trinity atrium to help match students with Trinity attenders that will be purchasing the hats, underwear, gloves, and socks to donate to Gardner students. Once donations have been collected, a team of volunteers sorts donations by grade level and teachers to bag and prepare for delivery. This year we had a team of six volunteers to sort and prepare the H.U.G.S. for delivery. Delivery day is always so much fun! During the last week of school before winter break Gardner celebrates with a Spirit Week, having fun themes for each day of the week. This year, delivery day fell on “Holiday Colors” day. Volunteers dressed up, alongside Gardner teachers and students, in their favorite holiday colors.
